The Gestüt
The Gestüt owned by Paul Wendeln and his wife Hilde is charmingly nestled into the countryside in the small town of Garrel which is located in the county of Cloppenburg south of Oldenburg and west from Bremen in the State of Lower Saxony. The couple live in an extremely tasteful ambient surrounded by magnificent trees vis-à-vis their approximately ten broodmares with their foals.
The Right Environment for Raising Horses
The facilities at the Gestüt provide the greatest comfort for horses. The mares, all of which are the highest quality and from the Gestüt's two performance lines or purchased from proved broodmare lines, are kept in a stable wing equipped with spacious stalls with a view. In summer the mares spend their time together with their foals on the extensive pastures that surround the Gestüt. A generously dimensioned loose stable is also there for protection if it gets too hot or rains too hard. Great value is placed on healthy and appropriate surroundings.
Preparation
A second stable area with a 20 x 40 meter indoor, an outdoor and an exercising machine provide perfect conditions for preparing young stallions for licensing or mares for the broodmare performance test.

With Head and Heart
Keeping horses is a matter close to the heart for Paul and Hilde Wendeln and it is done with a lot of passion and expertise. Gestüt Wendeln's numerous achievements at shows and in sport with the horses they have bred themselves are an impressive testimonial.
The horses are lovingly cared for by Friedrich Hagedorn, called "Fidi", who has worked at the Gestüt for many years. He is supported by Gerd Gerdes.
Hospitality Live
Once a year, an Oldenburg Verband foal branding event takes place at the Gestüt which is a popular meeting place for breeders, stallion owners and talent seekers. Paul and Hilde Wendeln are well-known for their hospitality.
